Hello June

Nothing says June like a good Mid Year Sale! I've spent up a storm getting all these items for a grand total of less than $100! Sportsgirl and Dotti are having some fantastic sales on at the moment and most of the stuff is still current season. Get set go.

The above is all Sportsgirl and the lovely boots below that I have been wearing like crazy are from Dotti.

The five minute dress

I bought a lovely tiger print scarf a few weekends back that I have neglected to blog about. It was gorgeous, but as I don't use scarves and I've been crushing on scoop neck dresses for a while now I thought I'd try making one out of my lovely scarf.

It was simple enough, I cut a piece of black fabric the same size as the scarf, sewed two top corners together and then half way up the two sides. Put a belt around it and this is what you get. I am super happy with the result! It really flattered my figure and was so damn easy to make!

I am also wearing the necklace which I made (featured in the last post) and a belt I made. You can't really see it but I'll post about it soon as it as ah-ma-zing.

Rachel Gilbert, Yes Yes Yes

I am lusting after Rachel Gilbert's new line of evening and cocktail dresses. Other than the fact that I haven't got the body or occasion to wear a single one of these dresses, I want one so bad!

Dress lust!

Geometric Shoes

I love that designers are becoming more and more experimental with heels. Goodbye typical old pumps and wedges, you will always have a place in our hearts and on our feet, but there are some new heels in town!

Favourite Coachella Looks

Even though I live all the way in Australia I look forward to Coachella every year for it's amazing fashion snaps! Every year hundreds of guys and gals manage to put on their Sunday best for my personal visual enjoyment!

Here is my roundup of favourite Coachella outfits so far. (Images are from Refinery 29.)

I really hope that one day I will get to Coachella! It is my dream to be happy snapped by a style stalker at a festival! But why don't they photograph the curvy girls? Some of them must be stylish? Or don't curvy girls go to festivals like Coachella because of the intimidating mass concentration of skinny beautiful women? Fair enough, but I'm still going!

Fill four bags for $30

This Easter I went back to the country to see my family and we ended up at a gorgeous little market. At the market there was a church clothing sale and it was SO good! Clothes just everywhere! And none of them were more modern than the 90s. As usual, I bought up a storm. Just couldn't control myself. I ended up filling four plastic bags and paying $30 for the lot. My boyfriend was frowning as he knows I'm broke, but when I told him that I would have paid that for one item of clothing let along all of them he was a little less disgusted.

Just as I was posting this I realised that I have forgotten to take photos of the two greatest finds of the lot: a vintage striking red blazer with gorgeous gold buttons and an eighties parker jacket with an insane cut and a cute print, both of which I am going to wear over jeans and dresses all the time this winter!

I'll post pictures soon so look out for it, definitely worth it!

Sass and Bide Wishlist and DIY Inspiration

A few posts ago I mentioned that Sass and Bide are my over all favourite fashion design brand. This is why:

Check out this dress, I'm making one. I NEED IT, IT IS SO BEAUTIFUL!

Sass and Bide do cuts so well, they just get fabric!

God I wanted (and still want) this dress so bad! I looked everywhere but the big sizes sold out quickly!

THOSE SHORTS!

Anyone could totally DIY that skirt!

And their colour palette is always perfect, like immaculate perfect.

I think I might try DIYing this with scrap fabric.

Another item to DIY for.

And this! So many ideas spring to mind. I think I'll cut the sleeves off a long vintage shirt and add some sheer panels to the bottom and wear it around like there's no tomorrow.

And yet another way to add panels to simple clothes to make them stand out as statement pieces.

Did I mention the amazing colour palettes?

Or the accessories that glam up an entire outfit?

I am so definitely going to use wide decorative trim to add a massive pop to a boring jacket (even though this is anything but)

Buy some paint and paint patches on loose wide leg pants.

Gah! This skirt is INCREDIBLE! I think I'll copy the look by creative a belt that I can wear over any skirt that has a long sheer tail at the back.

This can be created so easily with this right fabric and a little sewing.

Duct tape patterns on a shirt and then go nuts with spray paint, anyone?

This is odd but I love it. I think it would look so chic over a pair of skinny jeans or a pencil skirt. And it's so easy to DIY too.

And last but not least, this dress! Perhaps not this one in particular but just the shape! The idea of a straight maxi dress and cutting it at the front so that it has a long rectangular tail. I love it! From the back it's a normal long dress but from the front it's a style masterpiece. I am going to start buying straight dresses with nice prints at op shops and cutting them like this!

So many DIY ideas here! And it's all just so good, every season! And timeless too!

Sass and Bide love forever.
