Hello June

Nothing says June like a good Mid Year Sale! I've spent up a storm getting all these items for a grand total of less than $100! Sportsgirl and Dotti are having some fantastic sales on at the moment and most of the stuff is still current season. Get set go.

The above is all Sportsgirl and the lovely boots below that I have been wearing like crazy are from Dotti.

Gold Magnum

For the first time in a while I went out and bought new things from stores that make their own stock and don't give money to charity! This isn't exactly a morally or environmentally positive thing but it felt really refreshing; as much as I love op shopping good finds are hard to come by and it's much less difficult to find items you're going to love from normal stores.

So here are a couple of things I have bought recently, a necklace choker, cuff thing from Sportsgirl and a Tom Selleck t-shirt that was on sale at Dangerfield. My boyfriend frowned at me when he saw it, but then he ended up wearing it to uni yesterday and is now so much cooler for it.

Magnum P.I. love.

Oh, and I have started watching Game of Thrones after listening to people talk about it for months. Holy crap. I finished a season in two days, enough said.

Sportsgirl love

Sportsgirl is not quite my favourite fashion brand, (Sass and Bide is) but it is definitely my favourite brand from which I can actually afford to buy clothes! Here are some of my more recent purchases from last season. I tend to wait for Sportsgirl items to go on sale before I buy them, because they generally do, even the really good stuff!

And you probably remember this dress, I was wearing it in my second post. Looks great on!
Another great thing about Sportsgirl is the sizing. As a 14-16 I find it really difficult to find nicely fitting clothes and accurate sizing at most popular (and smaller) fashion outlets. But Sportsgirl is great! They do clothes that flatter big girls too and don't lie to you about how big or small your hips are!

Now To Me

Surprisingly, today I did some productive and social things! Firstly, a friend and I went to this!
It was the first "Gallery Opening" that I've ever been to, so I had no idea what to expect. Despite my lack of expectation, I was still surprised! The exhibition space was a very chick basement bar in Collins St, and it was gorgeous, low lights, modern geometric decor and giant crosses everywhere. Although the place was beautiful it had me wondering what this bar and others will do when the religious cross goes out of fashion. Moving on to the art! What there was, was great! But there wasn't much. And I wouldn't go so far as to call it art art, I would say it is more illustrative art, which is still art but a lighthearted form of it. I do recommend going to the exhibition, but not only to see the illustrations; more to have visually stimulating evening of drinks with friends in a super-gorgeous location. Unfortunately we didn't stay for long, Ash couldn't afford to fork out $9 for a beer. This is what I wore! (Sorry about the crappy photo, Ash isn't the greatest photographer and I don't pose seriously.)
The dress is from Sportsgirl, it was on sale for $29 and although at first I wasn't at one with the print, the cut is amazing and now I can't get enough of it! For curvy girls like me this dress is incredibly flattering, and to prove it I was complimented by four strangers tonight. FOUR! What a flattering night. The other productive thing I got up to was some sewing. I bought a large off-cut of thick upholstering fabric that I had planned to turn into a DIY ultra-shaped skirt. Unfortunately I have already run into a few setbacks but I'm going to see what I can do and I'll post photos later. Bonne nuit!
