Events Photography

I've left my blog for a long time because I've been extremely busy lately. With university, a new and strange job, glandular fever and The Mindy Project, I have barely had any spare time. But I'm going to try and make time to keep my blog going.

I've recently started offering cheap photography and videography for events. I've done a couple so far and have another on tonight, so it's been going well.

I've also done the videography for a wedding which turned out really well and I am just burning DVDs for the bride and groom now.

I'm really enjoying it. Editing the movies is a tedious job but at least I'm getting paid to do something creative and something that I enjoy.

If there's anything that I think I'm good at in life, it's seeing beauty in things. With a little practice and a little luck you can capture that beauty with a camera and that's why I love photography. Particularly events photography, so many happy, funny and loving moments to share.

Backyard Photo Shoots

In my spare time I like to play with my camera. I love taking photos, particularly candid shots. Hopefully this year I'll get back into it a bit more. I just got a new job (only a trial) and if it goes well I'll treat myself to a new camera. But for now I'm using an old (it still uses AA batteries) Pentax DSLR that takes ok photos. Here are some shots of my stunning friend Shannon Komorr.

 

Train Parks and Hottie Sharks

This is my friend Lesley. She is hot and I enjoy taking photos so we combined those traits to create some pretty pictures. These are from a while ago but I still really like them, and I miss this girl!

Lesley is wearing an ultra-cool vintage denim bodysuit, my old art smock, her own denim shorts and I can only assume those are one of my many pairs of vintage sunglasses. Isn't her make up cool? She thought I was crazy.

Anti-capitalist Design

A couple of days ago I was looking for a magazine to entertain me on a long train ride home. I was shopping at a big newsagents that had everything. I looked through the Vogues from pretty much every European country, and then I thought I might buy the current Frankie, which I (very sadly) think that I have outgrown. It's a little too cute and a little less edgy than I would prefer. I started looking through other magazines, Interview, Dazed and Confused, Cleo, Time, etc etc but couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. Then I found a plain white cover with a picture of a big, fat greasy, triple triple-cheeseburger with the caption, "Are We Satisfied?" I flicked through, and bought it based on the brief visuals that I saw and I got out of there as quickly as I could-the staff were looking at me as if I was about to steal something.

When I started reading I realised that it was an anti-capitalist magazine, which was rather funny as I had just come back from a political meeting. It's a very interesting read, but still, I just can't get over the incredible design.

This is literally the best magazine design that I have seen in a long time, it's refreshing to see such perfect and minimalist design in a little known, politically aggressive magazine. It just shows how different interest areas can come together and work simultaneously for any cause. Design these days works with everything.

Fashion and photos

I was hoping to do photography classes once I got into the city but I can no longer afford it, so from now on it's practice practice practice.

I only wish I took it with me more places but I never seem to remember it, and if I did I think I'd probably take 2000 photos a day. It's really about quality not quantity though, and that's something I need to learn. That and the ability to take quality photos!

This is my best friend Shannon, as you can see she's absolutely gorgeous! She also has great style, and styled both these outfits pictured herself with some of my vintage clothes.

The coloured striped top which can barely be seen is a tight fitted men's 70s tee from Target. It is gorgeous but unfortunately I couldn't convince Daniel to wear it.

The blouse is a gorgeous sheer secretary blouse with a stunning front bib crochet detail (the photos don't do it justice!). I absolutely love it! Unfortunately it looks horrible on me and as a result i's up for sale on Etsy.
